I took your recommendation and went through the network browser (instead of the normal "Go" menu route) and clicked the "Connect as." button and connected as a different user. I would probably try turning off inheritance, apply. clear out all but owner permissions, aple. I suspect there will be no problem, so it must be something odd with the permissions. Since it is only your account, I would un-map the share and try connecting to the share with another account from your login. So, I'm hoping the Spiceworks braintrust can help me out. Googling for this problem has netted me zero helpful answers. I can't figure out why I am suddenly unable to see the files. All shares mount normally and all the files appear.Īs I mentioned, nothing that I am aware of has changed.

For what it is worth, I have two other Windows 2003 servers and I have no problems seeing the contents of the shares on those servers.

The problem appears to be isolated to three particular shares. I mount a different share, and it appears empty. But I can mount one share, and all the files appear. If it were ALL the shares, this would be a different problem. But suddenly (yesterday afternoon, to be more accurate) I can no longer see the files in some of the shares on this server. I have been doing this for several years now. I access all the shares on the server via SMB (eg: smb:\\servername\sharename) as opposed to using AFP. The main point of mentioning the patching on both machines is to indicate that nothing should have changed recently. No recent patches but pretty much up-to-date. Server is running Windows Server 2003 R2, 64-bit. (just updated to 10.6.7 today, but it made no impact on my problem) Current on all patches and no new patches since 03/21/11. Just in case your connection drops while you're working, which could mean you lose work.I was running an iMac, OS X 10.6.6. When editing a file from the Kent network, save a local copy while editing it, and save it back to the network when done.
